Imperfect

 How I wish

I could sit

oh so saintly

with eyes closed

or open

breathing in

and out

and loving the world.

But I am also

an untamed animal

defending the nest

like the eagle

overlooking the water

guarding his mate

and their eggs

from his perch.

He will kill mice

scoop fish

feed them to her

in perfect alignment

with nature

while tents get raised

for another summer

of Bard on the Beach.

I am no saint.

But my consciousness

wants better manners

and less volatility.

Sometimes

annoyance

is warranted.

Who is to say

when you make promises

you don’t keep

that consequences

are not love.

  1. Oooooh!!!!! That’s rich! LOVE that last bit, “Who is to say when you make promises you don’t keep that consequences are not love.”

    Thank you!!!

  2. Thank you Steve for the loving consequence of you in this world and in the work you do. I appreciate your support and care more than I can say.
